In December 2023 a delegation of the People’s Resource Centre India visited several countries in Europe, of which The Netherlands was one. The main focus of their visit was aimed at learning more about liveable cities, high bicycle usage and the protest movements leading up to this in the 60’s and 70’s. As Iganga we organized multiple programmes for them at several of the Goudappel offices. We held presentations about important events in the history of cities and The Netherlands as a whole which marked impactful changes in mobility and city planning. One of such examples being the protest movement ‘Stop de kindermoord’. Furthermore, in both Deventer and Amsterdam we organized a cycling tour through the city with which the infrastructure and commonly used infrastructure designs were shown. We were also happy to learn about projects and social movements related to mobility which are taking place in India. We are looking forward to staying in contact and future projects with the People’s Resource Centre.
